Not one for everyone. magichotelgroup.com has a promotional code field and its FAQ explains how to enter a code when a specific promotion needs one, but the site does not publish a general code, and we found none on the offers pages when we checked. The most reliable saving is Magic Amigos: joining is free, needs no booking and gives a discount of up to 4% straight away, rising to up to 10% for regular guests. If Magic publishes a code on its own site, we will add it here with the source and date.

Magic Amigos is the free loyalty club. At the first level you get a discount of up to 4% on all your bookings, a welcome gift, 5% off spa treatments and 5% off themed restaurants. Magic Honours, from 14 nights stayed, raises the booking discount to up to 8% and adds 15% off parking and priority check-in. Magic VIP Honours, from 21 nights, gives up to 10% off bookings and 25% off parking. Only nights booked through the official websites or the call centre count, and if you do not reach the level's nights within two years you move down a level. The discount is personal: the club member must be the booking holder and must be staying.

For stays of 5 nights or more booked on magichotelgroup.com, the shared shuttle is free; you select it during the booking process. The Airport-Connect service links Alicante airport with La Cala de Finestrat, Benidorm and Albir, and the Alitren Connect service runs from the train station to the same towns. You can bring one piece of hand luggage plus one more bag per person, the buses are not wheelchair accessible, and for bookings made less than 48 working hours ahead the service depends on availability.

Only if you add the Safe Rate, which costs up to 10% of the booking and is itself non-refundable; it lets you cancel for free up to 4 days before arrival for any reason. Without it, Magic charges 25% of the booking for cancellations 7 to 6 days before arrival, 35% from 5 to 3 days, 80% two days before and 100% one day before or for a no-show. A booking cancelled within 24 hours of being made is free if arrival is more than 21 days away. Cancellations must be made in writing through Magic's cancellation form.

You give a card when you book, but nothing is taken until shortly before your trip: 25% of the booking is charged 22 to 30 days before arrival and the rest about 72 hours before arrival. If you pay by Bizum, the full amount is paid when you book.
