In short: We checked more than sixty hotels on Sardinia, and only seven are adults-only by their own website at the level we cover: three in Gallura in the north-east, one on Poetto beach in Cagliari, two near Villasimius and Costa Rei in the south-east and a spa hotel on the east coast.
Sardinia's adults-only hotels are scattered around the coast, with one on an inland lake.
Three are in Gallura in the north-east, near the Costa Smeralda and the Maddalena archipelago. The south has a beach hotel on Poetto in Cagliari and two quiet retreats near Villasimius and Costa Rei, while a spa hotel stands in a park near the sea in Ogliastra, on the east coast.
The review analysis covers a sample of 257 reviews from 4 of the 7 hotels listed. Mentions are counted after automated classification of texts that may be shortened. Latest analysis in this selection: October 2026. How we count mentions.

1Corte Bianca - Adults Only & SPA
Sardinia, Italy
Service & staff: 33 of 37 mentions positive · Food & restaurants: 24 of 36 mentions positive
Why this rank: A spa hotel in a large park at Marina di Cardedu in Ogliastra, where every room has its own entrance and the beach is about 250 metres away. Its own website describes it as a hotel for adults only, with no children, and booking sites set the minimum age at 16, so the 5,000 m² outdoor wellness area, the two pools and the private stretch of beach belong to grown-ups. Guests praise warm, attentive staff, spotless grounds and long lunches under the pines. It is remote, however, and a car is close to essential.
2Hotel Nautilus Excelsior - Adults Only
Sardinia, Italy
Service & staff: 38 of 43 mentions positive · Location: 30 of 36 mentions positive
Why this rank: An 18-room hotel on Cagliari's Poetto seafront, a few steps from the city beach. Its own website presents it as an adults-only hotel without giving an age, and children are not accepted. The infinity pool facing the sea is reserved for guests, and breakfast is served on a rooftop terrace. Guests praise the calm atmosphere, warm and helpful staff, and modern, spotless rooms, though the rooms are on the small side.
3La Villa Del Re - Adults Only - Small Luxury Hotels of the World
Sardinia, Italy
Service & staff: 38 of 45 mentions positive · Location: 26 of 29 mentions positive
Why this rank: A five-star hotel in traditional Sardinian style on the coast near Costa Rei, with direct access to a private beach and water sports such as windsurfing, snorkelling and canoeing. Its Small Luxury Hotels of the World page welcomes guests from 18, so everything from the infinity pool above the sea to the pool bar and the two restaurants, both with a dress code, is for adults. Guests value the seclusion, the beach and the views over the Mediterranean. Classic rooms have no balcony or patio.
4Hotel Valkarana Country Relais
Sardinia, Italy
Why this rank: A small country hotel of hand-worked granite, built in the style of a Gallura farmhouse on the shore of Lago del Liscia, inland from the Costa Smeralda. Its own website calls it an adults-only retreat without naming an age, and it does not take children. Pools, a panoramic sun terrace, yoga and massages fill the days. Guests praise the peaceful lakeside setting, warm personal service, excellent dinners and large, cool rooms with views. Breakfast is simpler, and the beaches are about half an hour away by car.
5Cruccùris Resort - Adults Only
Sardinia, Italy
Why this rank: A four-star hotel in gardens between the hills and the sea, about 4 km from Villasimius and 1 km from Campus beach. Its own website describes it as a hotel for adults only, and booking sites give 16 as the minimum age, so the two pools, the spa area and the dinner restaurant looking over the Mediterranean are shared by adults alone. Guests praise friendly staff, spacious rooms with a terrace or balcony and very clean grounds. The cooking falls short of the setting, and a car helps.
6Sandalia Boutique Hotel - Adults Only
Sardinia, Italy
Why this rank: A 27-room boutique hotel of clean, modern design on a hill in Cannigione, with the town's restaurants within walking distance. Its own website calls it an adults-only four-star hotel and reserves its rooms for adult guests; the pool and the Sandalia Café beside it, where breakfast, aperitifs and light lunches are served, are theirs too, and the staff arrange boat excursions. Guests praise a team that goes out of its way, spotless, well-designed rooms and a well-liked breakfast. Open showers splash, and the pool faces the car park.
7Grand Relais dei Nuraghi
Sardinia, Italy
Service & staff: 33 of 36 mentions positive · Location: 33 of 36 mentions positive
Why this rank: A small five-star hotel in a quiet part of Baja Sardinia, styled on Gallurese stazzi and the island's nuraghi, looking over the Maddalena archipelago and the Gulf of Arzachena. Its own website calls it an adults-only boutique hotel, and Booking gives 16 as the minimum age, so the panoramic pool, the sunset bar and the private beach a short walk away are adult spaces. Guests praise exceptionally friendly staff, flowering gardens, a generous breakfast and beach sunbeds included in the rate. Music from a neighbouring beach club can carry at night, and some rooms feel dated.

How we chose and ordered the hotels
We checked more than sixty hotels across Sardinia, from Alghero and Stintino in the north-west to Olbia, Porto Cervo and La Maddalena in the north-east, and from Pula and Cagliari to Villasimius and Arbatax in the south and east. Seven made the list. They are ordered by guest score, from the highest down; the scores set the order only, and we do not print them.
Put plainly, Sardinia has few hotels that are truly adults-only at this level. Many of the island's luxury resorts are built around families, and a good number of hotels sold as adults-only let in children from 12 or teenagers from 14 or 15. We chose a shorter list over a lower bar. The hotels we left out, listed further down, show why the others missed: family resorts, age limits of 12 to 15, adults-only areas inside hotels that take children, or guest scores under our floor.
Two of the seven are five-star and five are four-star. Four of them also appear in our guide to adults-only hotels across Italy. Where we give a minimum age, it comes from the hotel's own website or its brand's official page or, if the hotel publishes none there, from the conditions it lists on booking sites. We used booking sites for that and nothing else. Hotel Nautilus Excelsior, Valkarana and Sandalia call themselves adults-only without naming an age, so we give none.
To qualify, a hotel had to state on its own website that it is adults-only. It also had to be closed to guests under 16 or apply an explicit adults-only policy to the whole property. Hotels that only set an age limit of 12, 13 or 14, and adults-only areas inside family hotels, do not count.
Where to stay: Gallura, Cagliari or the south-east?
Gallura in the north-east has three of the hotels. Grand Relais dei Nuraghi looks over the Maddalena archipelago from a quiet corner of Baja Sardinia, with the village about ten minutes away on foot and Porto Cervo some 15 minutes by car. Sandalia stands on a hill in Cannigione, on the Gulf of Arzachena, with the town's restaurants within walking distance and La Sciumara beach less than a kilometre away; Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is about 30 km off. Valkarana is the inland option, a granite country house on the shore of Lago del Liscia, roughly half an hour from the beaches and 45 minutes from Porto Cervo.
Cagliari, the capital in the south, has Hotel Nautilus Excelsior, a few steps from the long city beach at Poetto and about 15 km from the airport. It is the easiest base on the list if you would rather not drive.
The south-east coast has two. Cruccùris lies in gardens between the hills and the sea, about 4 km from Villasimius and 1 km from Campus beach. La Villa del Re has its own beach near Costa Rei, around 20 minutes' drive from Villasimius and an hour from Cagliari airport.
Ogliastra, halfway up the east coast, has Corte Bianca at Marina di Cardedu, about 250 metres from the sea and some 35 minutes from the port of Arbatax. This is a quiet, rural stretch, so plan on a car. Several of these hotels are seasonal, however, and Grand Relais dei Nuraghi and Valkarana close over the winter, so check opening dates if you travel outside summer. For hotels that also welcome families, see our guide to luxury hotels in Sardinia.
Hotels we reviewed but left out
- Hotel Cala di Volpe and Cervo Hotel on the Costa Smeralda: resorts with kids clubs and programmes for children.
- Hotel Capo d'Orso Thalasso & Spa: part of a hotel group whose resorts run clubs for children, with no adults-only policy.
- Villa Las Tronas in Alghero and Hotel Relax Torreruja at Isola Rossa: children are welcome, and only the spa is kept for older guests.
- Grand Hotel Resort & SPA Ma&Ma on La Maddalena and LH Hotel La Funtana in Santa Teresa Gallura: sold as adults-only, but they take teenagers from 14.
- Cala Lupo Resort at Stintino: guests from 15.
- Relais La Ghinghetta, Hotel Cala Caterina and Wine Resort Leda d'Ittiri: children from 12. Hotel Simius Playa and Cascioni Eco Retreat accept children over 10.
- Petra Segreta Resort & Spa at San Pantaleo: no adults-only statement on its own website, and it accepts children from 12.
- The Pelican Beach Resort & SPA in Olbia and Hotel Club Torre Salinas: adults-only, but below our guest-score floor.
- NOHA Lifestyle Hotel in Pula and Margaida Boutique Hotel at Cala Gonone: we could not confirm adults-only status on an official hotel website.
- S'Arenada Hotel in Villasimius and Hotel Giardino La Playa in Alghero: adults-only, but three-star hotels outside the luxury segment we cover.
Worth knowing before you book: on Sardinia the words adults-only on a hotel's banner often mean 14 or 15 and up. We only count hotels that keep out guests under 16 or apply an adults-only policy to the whole property.
