Tripplo· Founder: Axel Hernborg

In short: Eleven hotels in six places on Turkey's coast call themselves adults-only on their own websites, at most two per place: Kemer, Side and Alanya on the Riviera, and Bodrum, Fethiye and Sarıgerme in the south-west. Seven take guests from 16 and three from 18, one gives no exact age, and most are all inclusive. Antalya city and Belek have none.

How we chose and ordered the hotels

This is a country guide, so no single resort town gets more than two hotels. That gives eleven hotels in six places, from small boutique hotels to large all-inclusive resorts, four-star and five-star alike. They are ordered by guest score, so the order shows how satisfied guests have been rather than which coast will suit you. The section on where to stay below helps with that.

Each hotel had to say on its own website, or its brand's, that it is adults-only. We used booking sites only to find the minimum age where the hotel's own pages gave none. To qualify, a hotel had to accept guests from 16 at the youngest or have an explicit adults-only policy for the whole hotel. Hotels that only set an age limit of 12, 13 or 14, and adults-only zones inside family hotels, do not count.

Where to stay in Turkey: the Riviera or the south-west?

The eleven hotels fall on two coasts, each with its own airports. For a wider view of the country, family resorts included, see our guide to luxury hotels in Turkey.

Kemer lies south-west of Antalya, where the Taurus Mountains run down to the sea. Balmy Beach Resort is at Beldibi, between Antalya and Kemer, and Robinson Camyuva stands among pine trees at Çamyuva, south of Kemer town. Both have beaches of rock or pebble rather than sand. Our page on luxury hotels in Kemer covers the wider area.

Side, east of Antalya, has two hotels on the same street in Kumköy: TUI Blue Barut Andız and Side Zeugma, each a few minutes' walk from Kumköy Beach and within walking distance of the ancient city. Antalya Airport is 69 km away. More hotels in the area are on our page about luxury hotels in Side.

Alanya, further east along the Riviera, has one hotel on each side of town. Sunprime C-Lounge is on the beach east of the centre, about four kilometres from Atatürk Square, and Selene Beach & Spa is on the beach at Türkler in the Avsallar area to the west, 63 km from Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport.

Antalya city and Belek have no hotel on the list. Belek's large golf and beach resorts take children, some with no more than an adults-only area inside, and the smaller adults-only hotels we found there fell below our guest-score floor. In Antalya itself, the big resorts at Lara are mostly family hotels, and the adults-only hotels we found there and in the old town of Kaleiçi set the age limit at 12 or 14 or did not meet our other requirements.

Bodrum, on the Aegean, is reached through Milas-Bodrum Airport. Casa Nonna is on İçmeler bay, a five-minute taxi ride from Bodrum town, and Hyde is on Usuluk Bay near Torba, on the north side of the peninsula. They are very different: Casa Nonna is a calm beach hotel with à la carte dining, Hyde an ultra all-inclusive hotel with a beach club. See also our guide to luxury hotels in Bodrum.

Fethiye and Sarıgerme, further east along the south-west coast, are both served by Dalaman Airport. In Fethiye, Yacht Boheme faces the marina in Karagözler, a short walk from the old town, and Ölüdeniz Blu is at Ölüdeniz, south of the town, about 15 minutes on foot from Ölüdeniz Beach. TUI BLUE Seno is at Sarıgerme, within 20 km of the airport, on a hillside above its own bay.

On an all-inclusive week, the room rate covers most of what you spend, so it is worth checking Hotels.com member prices and codes before you book.

Why at most two hotels per place?

Turkey's adults-only hotels cluster on the Riviera, around Side, Alanya and Kemer. A country list without a cap could fill up with hotels from two or three resort towns and leave out Bodrum and the Fethiye coast altogether. We therefore take at most two hotels from any one place. That keeps six places on two coasts in the guide.

Worth knowing: adults-only does not mean the same thing at every Turkish hotel. On this list, seven hotels take guests from 16 and three from 18, while Ölüdeniz Blu calls itself adults-only without giving an age. Most are all inclusive, and two are ultra all inclusive. Casa Nonna, however, serves à la carte, and Yacht Boheme is a town hotel with a poolside bar and restaurant. Check the conditions and the board basis before you book.

Hotels we reviewed but left out

  • Belek's big-name resorts, among them Maxx Royal Belek, Regnum Carya, Rixos Premium Belek and Kaya Palazzo, are family resorts with kids' clubs. Voyage Belek and TUI Magic Life Belek are family hotels with no more than an adults-only area.
  • Antalya's Lara resorts, such as Lara Barut Collection and Concorde De Luxe, take children. In the old town of Kaleiçi, RuinAdalia accepts guests from 14 and Route Hotel Kaleiçi from 12.
  • The Marmara Bodrum calls itself adults-only, but its own website accepts guests from 13.
  • Well-known luxury names in Bodrum, such as Mandarin Oriental Bodrum, Maxx Royal Bodrum and Voyage Torba, and D Maris Bay on the Datça peninsula, welcome children, and most run kids' clubs.
  • Akra Fethiye The Residence is an adults-only section that shares the facilities of a larger family resort, which our criteria exclude.
  • XO Cape Arnna near Fethiye has an 18+ club section, but the rest of the resort is a family hotel with a kids' club.
  • Lukka Exclusive in Kaş, Rhapsody in Kalkan and Qlusive in Kuşadası sell themselves as adults-only, yet accept children from 12.
  • Lures Hotel in Kalkan is sold as 16+ by tour operators, but its own website never says it is adults-only.
  • Adam & Eve in Belek, Cook's Club Adaköy in Marmaris and Sunprime Alanya Beach are genuine adults-only hotels, but below our guest-score floor.
  • Sabrina's Haus at Bozburun and Alba Royal at Çolaklı are adults-only, but have too few guest reviews for us to place them yet.

One thing stands out in Turkey: the words 'adults only' cover everything from a strict 18+ club to hotels that take children from 12, and booking sites often call a hotel child-free when its own website says otherwise. We only list hotels that say on their own websites that they are for adults throughout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Seven of the hotels take guests from 16: Yacht Boheme, TUI Blue Barut Andız, TUI BLUE Seno, Side Zeugma, Casa Nonna, Sunprime C-Lounge and Selene Beach & Spa. Balmy Beach Resort, Hyde Bodrum and Robinson Camyuva set the limit at 18. Ölüdeniz Blu calls itself adults-only without publishing an age, so check before booking if anyone in your party is under 18.

TUI Blue Barut Andız, TUI BLUE Seno, Side Zeugma and Balmy Beach Resort are all inclusive, while Hyde Bodrum and Selene Beach & Spa are ultra all inclusive. Casa Nonna serves à la carte, and Yacht Boheme is a town hotel with a poolside bar and restaurant, close to the restaurants of Fethiye's old town. Ölüdeniz Blu has a restaurant and a daily buffet breakfast. At Sunprime C-Lounge, Robinson Camyuva and Ölüdeniz Blu, check the board basis when you book.

The Riviera around Antalya, with Kemer, Side and Alanya, has six of the hotels and suits a classic beach and all-inclusive holiday, with Side adding an ancient city within walking distance. The south-west has more variety: a beach hotel and a beach-club hotel near Bodrum, a marina hotel in Fethiye, a pool hotel at Ölüdeniz and a resort with its own bay at Sarıgerme.

Casa Nonna, Hyde Bodrum, Selene Beach & Spa and TUI BLUE Seno are on the shore with private beaches or beach areas, and Balmy Beach Resort and Robinson Camyuva have private beaches of rock and pebble. Sunprime C-Lounge has a private beach area about 50 metres from the hotel. TUI Blue Barut Andız and Side Zeugma are a few minutes' walk from Kumköy Beach, Ölüdeniz Blu is about 15 minutes' walk from Ölüdeniz Beach, and Yacht Boheme has no beach at all.

None met our requirements. Belek's large luxury resorts take children, some with only an adults-only area inside, and the smaller adults-only hotels there fell below our guest-score floor. In Antalya, the Lara resorts are mostly family hotels, and the adults-only hotels we found there and in the old town of Kaleiçi set the age limit at 12 or 14 or fell short of our other criteria.
