In short: Twelve five-star family resorts on Khao Lak's beaches, from Khuk Khak and Nang Thong to Bang Sak, each checked on its own website for kids' clubs, children's pools, slides and family rooms. X10 Khaolak Resort, Robinson Khao Lak and The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani confirm every family facility we check for, babysitting and an adults-only area included.
Khao Lak is a chain of long sandy beaches on the Andaman coast north of Phuket, backed by forested hills.
Its luxury family stays are mostly large beachfront resorts set in tropical gardens: lagoon pools and water playgrounds at Khuk Khak, family hotels within reach of shops and restaurants at Nang Thong, and quieter resorts further north around Bang Sak.
The review analysis covers a sample of 586 reviews from 12 of the 12 hotels listed. Mentions are counted after automated classification of texts that may be shortened. Latest analysis in this selection: November 2026. How we count mentions.

1JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 24 of 35 mentions positive · Food & restaurants: 16 of 24 mentions positive
Why this rank: A large resort on the golden sand of Khuk Khak Beach, built around a huge lagoon pool with a swim-up bar. The Family by JW Club runs hands-on activities for children, the Aqua Play Zone adds a wave pool, a water slide, a water trampoline and a playground, and there are two-bedroom family suites and family rooms with lagoon access. Guests praise warm staff and the breakfast, though getting around the grounds means long walks.
2X10 Khaolak Resort
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 20 of 22 mentions positive · Pools, beach & aquapark: 16 of 19 mentions positive
Why this rank: A beachfront resort in Khuk Khak where every family facility we check for is confirmed: a kids' club staffed by people with child-care experience, two children's pools, a water slide, babysitting booked in advance and a pool by the beach kept for adults. The Kids Suites in the Family Wing give children their own room with bunk beds. Guests like the relaxed atmosphere and the sunsets; however, some found the slide closed during their stay.
3Robinson Khao Lak
Khao Lak, Thailand
Food & restaurants: 13 of 18 mentions positive · Service & staff: 13 of 15 mentions positive
Why this rank: A club resort on long, flat and gently sloping Pak Weep Beach, with the ROBY Club for ages 3 to 6 and R.O.B.Y. for ages 7 to 12, supervised mornings and afternoons six days a week. There is a children's pool with two small slides, family rooms with a connecting door, limited babysitting and a children's menu at early mealtimes, while a relaxation pool and the WellFit spa are kept for over-16s. Guests praise the gardens and the separate family and adult areas, though the nearest town is a taxi ride away.
4Marriott Vacation Club, Khao Lak Beach Resort
Khao Lak, Thailand
Food & restaurants: 9 of 12 mentions positive · Service & staff: 9 of 9 mentions positive
Why this rank: A beachfront resort on Khuk Khak Beach that offers one- and two-bedroom family apartments, including a two-storey loft. Children have a kids' club and the Aqua Play Zone with a wave pool, a water trampoline and slides, and the pools run through the whole resort. Guests find it well set up for young children, although the balconies face the garden or pool rather than the sea.
5The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 19 of 19 mentions positive · Location: 16 of 16 mentions positive
Why this rank: Beachfront on Nang Thong Beach in the centre of Khao Lak, with every family facility we check for confirmed. The Sands Castle club is for children and teens, the water play area has a toddler pool, a kiddy pool, a lazy river and slides for both children and adults, family rooms take two adults and two children under 12, and trained staff offer babysitting. Parents can retreat to an adults-only pool, which helps, because guests say the resort is lively with children and rarely quiet.
6Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa
Khao Lak, Thailand
Food & restaurants: 33 of 41 mentions positive · Service & staff: 27 of 41 mentions positive
Why this rank: A newer resort with sea views and direct access to the beach at Bang Muang, in the quieter north of Khao Lak. It has a kids' club with family activities, a children's pool, a water slide and family suites, while a quiet adult pool gives parents a break. Guests praise exceptionally warm staff and a calm atmosphere, but the location is secluded and the transfer long.
7Avani Plus Khao Lak Resort
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 19 of 33 mentions positive · The rooms: 18 of 25 mentions positive
Why this rank: Set on its own shaded stretch of beach at Bang Sak, with a two-storey AvaniKids club and a water park and skate park outside; it is the only hotel on this list with a skate park. The club has one zone for ages 1 to 4 with a parent, one for 5 to 12 and one for teenagers, and there is a children's pool and interconnecting rooms on request. Guests call it excellent for children, though the restaurants close early.
8Devasom Khao Lak
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 29 of 38 mentions positive · Location: 26 of 33 mentions positive
Why this rank: A beachfront resort beside a lagoon on Khuk Khak's sunset beach, with a peaceful feel. Children aged 4 to 12 can join the kids' club, younger ones with a parent, there is a separate children's pool, and the two-bedroom beachfront family pool villas look out to sea. Guests single out the spa, the staff and the breakfast, but service charges are added to most extras.
9Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 20 of 20 mentions positive · Food & restaurants: 16 of 22 mentions positive
Why this rank: A beachfront resort on the long sand at Bangsak, where some rooms open straight onto the pool. Its group's page lists a children's club with groups from babies to teenagers, though it does not say from what age children can be left there, and there is an outdoor kids' pool, connecting rooms and children's menus. Guests love the beach for long walks; they also note, however, that the sea is not always calm enough for swimming.
10Outrigger Khao Lak Beach Resort
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 15 of 17 mentions positive · Location: 10 of 11 mentions positive
Why this rank: Set directly on long, quiet Bangsak Beach, with villas that have a private plunge pool and a pool with a children's area overlooking the sea. A kids' club run by trained staff, a children's pool, a playground, babysitting, family rooms and suites, and kid-friendly menus with high chairs are all confirmed. Guests praise friendly staff and the breakfast, though taxis to town and the sights add up.
11The Little Shore Khao Lak by Katathani
Khao Lak, Thailand
Service & staff: 42 of 51 mentions positive · The rooms: 26 of 31 mentions positive
Why this rank: A newer resort on Nang Thong Beach with a beachfront pool and a calm, quiet atmosphere. The Little Octopus Kids' Club runs games and creative activities, the Seaview Penthouse Family Pool Suite sleeps up to four adults and two children, and guests can use the facilities, water park included, at sister hotel The Sands. Guests praise the personal service, though some find the beach itself fairly ordinary.
12Le Meridien Khao Lak Resort & Spa
Khao Lak, Thailand
Food & restaurants: 29 of 38 mentions positive · Service & staff: 23 of 31 mentions positive
Why this rank: A resort by Bangsak Beach with a large pool, beautiful grounds and free water sports on the beachfront. The Family Kids Club is confirmed, along with family rooms with pool access and one- and two-bedroom pool villas, but we could not confirm a children's pool or slides on its own site. Guests find plenty for families to do, though the resort is far from central Khao Lak and some areas look tired.

How we chose and ordered the hotels
The order is the family theme's own ranking, not Khao Lak's general luxury order. Confirmed family facilities count for 55 percent, the guest verdict, weighted by how many reviews stand behind it, for 30 percent and star class for 15 percent. A facility we could not confirm counts as neither yes nor no, though it earns much less than a confirmed one. Every hotel on the list is five-star, so class does not separate them. The kids' club minimum age is shown for information only.
Hotels that do not take young children, and adults-only hotels, were left out. Every hotel that remained was checked on its own website, or its hotel group's site, for a kids' club, a children's pool, water slides, family rooms or interconnecting rooms, babysitting, children's menus and an adults-only area. Where the hotel's own site was silent on children's menus, we used the hotel's facility list on a booking site.
Where to stay: Khuk Khak, Nang Thong or Bang Sak?
Khuk Khak, north of the centre, has five of the hotels and most of the big resorts. JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa and Marriott Vacation Club, Khao Lak Beach Resort both stand on Khuk Khak Beach, and X10 Khaolak Resort and Devasom Khao Lak are on the same stretch of sand, Devasom beside a lagoon. Robinson Khao Lak lies further north on Pak Weep Beach, where the nearest town is a taxi ride away.
Nang Thong is the beach in the centre of Khao Lak, with shops and restaurants close by. The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani and its sister hotel, The Little Shore Khao Lak by Katathani, are both here, and Little Shore guests can use the facilities at The Sands. Bang Niang, just to the north, has none of the twelve, though two of the family hotels in the list below are there.
Bang Sak and Bang Muang, further north past Cape Pakarang, are the quietest part of the coast and have five hotels: Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa, Avani Plus Khao Lak Resort, Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak, Outrigger Khao Lak Beach Resort and Le Meridien Khao Lak Resort & Spa. The beach is long and good for walks, but town and sights are a taxi ride away, and the drive from Phuket's airport takes around 90 minutes.
Wherever you stay, however, keep the season in mind. The southwest monsoon, roughly May to October, can bring rough sea to the Andaman coast, so swim only where lifeguards and flags allow and save the pools for red-flag days.
Family hotels we reviewed but left out
- The Sarojin: takes children only from 10, with no kids' club or children's pool.
- The Anda Mani Khaolak Beachfront Villas and SENTIDO Khao Lak: adults-only.
- The Haven Khao Lak: only takes guests over 12.
- The Waters Khao Lak by Katathani: a four-star sold as a grown-up getaway, with no kids' club or children's pool on its own site.
- La Solaya Khao Lak: family villas, but no kids' club or children's pool on its own site.
- Eden Beach Khao Lak Resort & Spa: a children's playroom, but no kids' club or children's pool confirmed on its own site.
- Kantary Beach Hotel Villas & Suites: suites with kitchenettes, but its own site gives no detail on the kids' club and lists no children's pool.
- Pullman Khao Lak Resort and Mai Khaolak Beach Resort & Spa: five-star, but below the guest-rating threshold we set for the list.
- Khaolak Merlin Resort, Kalima Resort and Villas Khao Lak, Ramada Resort by Wyndham Khao Lak, Graceland Khaolak Beachfront Resort and La Vela Khao Lak: verified family hotels, but with fewer family facilities confirmed than the twelve above.
A pattern worth knowing: several luxury hotels in Khao Lak are built for couples and set a minimum age for children, or turn young children away in high season. Check the child policy before you book, even where the photos look family-friendly.
