12 luxury adults-only hotels in Spain: the best in 2026

Tripplo· Founder: Axel Hernborg

In short: Twelve hotels on six Spanish islands call themselves adults-only on their own websites, two per island: Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. None is on the mainland. Six take guests from 16 and three from 18, while three give no exact age.

Every hotel in this guide is on a Spanish island; none is on the mainland.

The review analysis covers a sample of 545 reviews from 10 of the 12 hotels listed. Mentions are counted after automated classification of texts that may be shortened. Latest analysis in this selection: November 2026. How we count mentions.

Guests single out staff who think of everything, the sea and pool views from every suite and a breakfast that is one of the hotel's strengths. Outside the gate, however, is a busy resort, so the calm ends at the hotel's edge.

How we chose and ordered the hotels

This is a country guide, so no island gets more than two hotels. That gives twelve hotels on six islands, two on each, half of them five-star and half four-star. All twelve are in the Balearic and Canary Islands: no hotel on the Spanish mainland made the list. They are ordered by guest score, which tells you how happy guests have been rather than which island will suit you; the island-by-island section below helps with that.

Each hotel had to say on its own website that it is adults-only. We used booking sites only to find the minimum age where the hotel's own pages gave none. To qualify, a hotel had to accept guests from 16 at the youngest or have an explicit adults-only policy. Hotels that only set an age limit of 12, 13 or 14, and adults-only zones inside family hotels, do not count.

Where to stay in Spain: which island suits you?

The Balearic Islands, in the Mediterranean, have six of the hotels and are at their best from late spring to early autumn.

Mallorca, the largest of the group, has both of its hotels near Canyamel on the east coast. Pleta de Mar has its own paths down to the sea, and its neighbour Can Simoneta sits on a clifftop above Canyamel Beach. Palma is roughly 75 to 80 km away, and public transport nearby is limited, so a car or a transfer makes life easier.

Menorca has two agroturismos, working farm estates turned into small hotels, in the green interior rather than on the coast. Llucasaldent is on the road from Alaior to Son Bou, about 15 km from the airport, and Son Vives sits on a hillside outside Ferreries with views over wooded hills to the sea. Both need a car for the beaches.

Ibiza has one hotel on each coast. Catalonia Royal Ses Estaques is on a quiet bay at Santa Eulària des Riu in the east, a short walk from the town, while Amàre Beach Hotel is on the waterfront at Cala de Bou in San Antonio Bay in the west, about 4 km from the bars of Sant Antoni.

The Canary Islands, in the Atlantic off north-west Africa, have the other six and are the choice for winter sun.

On Lanzarote, Lani's Suites de Luxe is on the beachfront at Puerto del Carmen on the south-east coast, 7 km from the airport. Royal Marina Suites is a little further west along the coast, beside the marina at Puerto Calero, which is much quieter in the evening.

Gran Canaria's two hotels are both at Maspalomas in the south. Riu Palace Maspalomas stands beside the dunes, about 800 metres from the beach, and Club Maspalomas Suites & Spa is in the quiet residential area of Campo Internacional, away from the seafront.

Tenerife's pair are in the south of the island. JOIA El Mirador is just off Playa del Duque on the Costa Adeje, and 1881 Tenerife sits on the Golf Las Américas course above Playa de las Américas, looking across the water to La Gomera.

Fuerteventura, the second-largest of the Canaries, has no hotel on the list: none of its adults-only hotels met all of our criteria.

Combining two islands, say Tenerife and Gran Canaria, means two hotel bookings. Before you pay for either, have a look at our roundup of current Hotels.com codes.

Why only two hotels per island?

Without a cap, a Spain list would fill up with hotels from the two or three islands with the most adults-only choice. Limiting each island to two keeps this guide spread across the country, but it also means good hotels drop out where the choice is widest. That is what our island guides are for. Each one covers a single island in more depth, with more hotels to compare:

Worth knowing: adults-only does not mean the same thing at every Spanish hotel. On this list the age limit runs from 16 to 18, and three hotels publish no exact age. Read the conditions before you book, especially if you are travelling with a 16- or 17-year-old.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lani's Suites de Luxe, Pleta de Mar, Can Simoneta, JOIA El Mirador, Catalonia Royal Ses Estaques and Amàre Beach Hotel Ibiza take guests from 16. Agroturismo Llucasaldent, Royal Marina Suites and Riu Palace Maspalomas set the limit at 18. Son Vives, Club Maspalomas Suites & Spa and 1881 Tenerife call themselves adults-only without publishing an exact age, so check with the hotel if anyone in your party is under 18.

For a Mediterranean summer, look at the Balearics: Menorca for farm-estate calm in the countryside, Ibiza for a choice between a quiet bay and a livelier pool scene, and Mallorca for a spa hotel or a clifftop hideaway on the east coast. For winter sun, the Canaries are the better bet: Lanzarote for suites by the sea, Gran Canaria for spa hotels near the Maspalomas dunes, and Tenerife for a beach suite or a golf hotel.

JOIA El Mirador has direct access to Playa del Duque, and Lani's Suites de Luxe is on the beachfront at Puerto del Carmen. Amàre is on the water at Cala de Bou with access to a pier, and Catalonia Royal Ses Estaques is on the seafront but has no beach area of its own. Can Simoneta has direct access to Canyamel Beach below its cliff, Pleta de Mar has paths down to the sea, and Riu Palace Maspalomas is beside the dunes, about 800 metres from the beach. Royal Marina is on a rocky shore, 1881 Tenerife and Club Maspalomas are inland of the seafront, and the two Menorca farm hotels need a drive to the coast.

The six hotels on the Canary Islands. Riu Palace Maspalomas heats its two outdoor pools in winter, JOIA El Mirador has a heated freshwater pool and 1881 Tenerife a heated indoor pool, while the pool at Royal Marina Suites is open all year. The Balearics are cooler in winter, and their hotels suit the warmer months better.

So that it covers Spain's islands as a whole instead of being dominated by the few with the most choice. Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife have more adults-only hotels than the cap allows, however, and each has its own, longer adults-only guide on Tripplo.
