Boutique Hotel Kazbek
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Peace and quietBoutique Hotel Kazbek suits travellers who would rather stay somewhere small and calm than in the thick of the crowds… It fills a fully renovated 16th-century noble residence on the seafront of Gruž Bay in Lapad, and guests describe it as intimate, full of character and immaculately kept. The staff stand out for service that is personal and friendly yet polished, and the breakfast and the restaurant's cooking are praised just as often. The pool area is a favourite spot in the afternoons. The quiet comes at the cost of distance. The Old Town is about a 10-minute drive away, so evenings in town start with a taxi. Breakfast is served to order rather than as a buffet, which not every guest likes, and beyond the pool and sauna the facilities are modest. Couples who want a refined, peaceful retreat will feel well looked after; anyone who wants to walk straight into the Old Town should stay closer to it.
Why this position
Among the three highest guest scores of the 15 hotels we rank here: 9.4 from 182 reviews. Scores higher than #8 (9.4 to 9.1), on a smaller body of reviews (182 to 3,046).

Royal Princess Hotel
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Royal Princess Hotel is a good match for travellers who want space, sea views and plenty to do without leaving the hotel… It stands beside the sea in Lapad, among pine trees, and every suite has a balcony; guests return again and again to the views and the sunsets. The staff are praised for going out of their way, the suites feel generous and freshly refurbished, and the choice of pools and restaurants keeps the days varied. Families mention roomy suites and a child-friendly atmosphere. The drawbacks are minor but worth knowing. Some guests reserve sunbeds early and then leave them empty, which makes the pool area feel busier than it is. There is no shop on site, and the Old Town is a bus or taxi ride away rather than a stroll. Couples and families who value comfort and facilities will be very content here; those who want to step straight into the Old Town should stay closer to it.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #9 (649 to 182), at a slightly lower score (9.2 to 9.4).

Hotel Croatia Cavtat
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Hotel Croatia lies in an exceptionally beautiful and secluded location on a peninsula overlooking the Adriatic on one side and the picturesque old town of Cavtat on the other…
Why this position
Sits behind #11 on both the score (9.0 to 9.2) and the sample it rests on (1,815 to 4,329 reviews).

Royal Blue Hotel
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Royal Blue Hotel is aimed at travellers who want the Adriatic in full view from morning to evening… It stands on the seafront at Babin Kuk, within the Importanne Resort, and guests come back again and again to the dramatic coastline, the sunsets and the promenade that runs along the water. The adults-only rooftop infinity pool keeps the mood calm, the rooms are described as spotless and often spacious, and the staff are singled out for going above and beyond. A few points are worth knowing. The sea is reached from rocky sunbathing areas and concrete platforms rather than a sandy beach, and some guests found the sunbeds hard. The rooftop bar closes earlier than some would like, and breakfast divides opinion: most enjoy it, while a few expected more from a five-star hotel. Couples who want sea views, a spa and a peaceful base will find a fine fit; anyone set on sand should look elsewhere.
Why this position
Scores higher than #12 (9.1 to 9.0), on a smaller body of reviews (809 to 1,815).

Royal Ariston Hotel
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Set within the Royal Resort, Royal Ariston Hotel offers a private beach and a seaside swimming pool with panoramic views. Guided excursions to Elaphiti Islands are available. Free WiFi access is…
Why this position
Guests rate it above #13 (9.1 to 9.1) and on more reviews (1,921 to 809).

Hotel More
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Hotel More is made for travellers who want the sea right outside rather than a view over rooftops… It sits on the beachfront of the Lapad Peninsula, wrapped in Mediterranean greenery, and guests keep returning to the spectacular views and to swimming in the sea straight from the hotel. The Cave Bar is a talking point in its own right, the staff are described as friendly, and breakfast impresses with its wide choice. Nearby restaurants and the bus into town make the location practical too. There are a few things to weigh up. Some recent guests were bothered by daytime noise from building work near the hotel, and opinions on Restaurant More are mixed. The Old Town is about 3.5 km away, so it is a bus or taxi ride rather than a walk. Couples who want a lively seaside base with real sea access will be very happy here; anyone set on sleeping within the City Walls should look elsewhere.
Why this position
Sits behind #14 on both the score (9.0 to 9.1) and the sample it rests on (636 to 1,921 reviews).

How we chose these hotels
At our latest review (August 2026) the properties listed above were measured against the same standard: sustained guest scores on both Booking.com and Google (weighted by how many reviews sit behind them), five-star class or an equivalent premium level, a genuinely first-rate location, and facilities that set the hotel apart.
As a guideline we look for around 8.5 or higher on Booking.com, but no single number decides on its own. When the sources disagree, the broader evidence wins. Guest scores on this page update continuously, and the selection is re-reviewed at regular intervals. The full standard is described in how we choose hotels.
