Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa-Deluxe All Inclusive
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Best overallThe 5 star deluxe Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa- Deluxe All Inclusive is located on the island of Fasmendhoo , in the southern part of Raa Atoll, Maldives. The island is composed of 20 Hectares of…
Why this position
Among the three highest guest scores of the 18 hotels we rank here: 9.9 from 561 reviews. Leads the ranking: the same guest score as #2, on a larger body of reviews (561 to 209).

Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa
Northern Atolls, Maldives
BeachEmerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa suits couples, and honeymooners in particular, who want a beautiful island and service that feels personal… It sits on the beach in Raa Atoll, with sea-view rooms that open onto balconies, a private beach and a year-round outdoor pool. Guests describe crystal-clear water and a striking house reef, praise a resort that is extremely clean and well organised, and speak warmly about the food, which spans Chinese, Japanese, Mediterranean and international cooking. Many mention the attention they received from their personal host and the wider team. Reviews contain almost no complaints, so the trade-offs are mostly about the setting. This is an island resort: arrival depends on an airport transfer, every meal is taken on site and there is little to explore beyond the beach and the reef. Couples who want calm days and attentive service will find a great deal to like; travellers who enjoy moving around and trying different places may find the island limiting.
Why this position
Among the three highest guest scores of the 18 hotels we rank here: 9.9 from 209 reviews. The same guest score as #1 (9.9), on a smaller body of reviews (209 to 561).

Cocoon Maldives
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Spa & wellnessCocoon Maldives is a resort where the design and the welcome do most of the talking… It sits on Ookolhufinolhu in Lhaviyani Atoll and was designed by Daniele Lago, so the rooms are wrapped in greenery, with glass partitions opening onto open-air bathrooms that keep nature close. Guests come back again and again to the staff: warm, accommodating and quick to sort out any issue, with a personal island host who keeps the stay running smoothly. The buffet restaurant and the breakfast earn praise, and one guest was pleased by how short the seaplane transfer was. There are a few things to weigh up. One guest on the all-inclusive package found that it covered only one restaurant, which can feel limiting on a longer stay. August falls in the monsoon season, and one visitor would avoid that month. The open-air bathrooms are part of the charm but will not suit everyone. Couples and anyone who values personal, unhurried service will feel at home here.
Why this position
Sits behind #2 on both the score (9.7 to 9.9) and the sample it rests on (178 to 209 reviews).

Luxury hotels in the Maldives' northern atolls – 3 details you did not know

Fushifaru Maldives
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Peace and quietFushifaru Maldives suits travellers who want a small island where the days feel unhurried and personal… It lies on the far north-eastern edge of Lhaviyani Atoll, between a national Marine Protected Area and three well-known dive sites, and a 35-minute seaplane flight links it to Velana International Airport. Guests return to the same points again and again: friendly, helpful staff, excellent food across the three restaurants, white beaches and clear turquoise water. Several reviewers were on their second stay, and divers value having a dive centre on the island. The small size is the main thing to weigh up. The island feels private and peaceful, but there is little ground to cover, and beyond the resort there is nothing to explore except the sea. Arrival also depends on the seaplane. Couples and divers who want calm days, good food and the reef close at hand will feel at home here; anyone hoping for a large resort with plenty of variety may find it too compact.
Why this position
Sits behind #3 on both the score (9.6 to 9.7) and the sample it rests on (169 to 178 reviews).

Jawakara Islands Maldives
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Jawakara Islands Maldives delivers the Maldives many people picture: white sand, clear blue water and palms, set on Maabinhura Island in Lhaviyani Atoll… Guests like the lush greenery and the style of the buildings as much as the views, and the resort keeps days varied with three pools, including an infinity pool, spa facilities, a fitness centre and plenty of activities. Evenings bring live music and film nights, and a family-friendly restaurant serves Mediterranean and international dishes. Reviews praise the food and drinks, the comfortable beds and the friendly staff, and honeymooners describe a warm welcome from the moment they arrived. A few points come up in reviews. One guest felt the buffet could offer more variety, and another would like to see more sunbeds. Bats live outside the rooms and across the island, which one guest mentioned. Honeymooners, couples and anyone who enjoys a lively programme alongside the beach will feel at home here.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #4 (235 to 169), at a slightly lower score (9.5 to 9.6).

Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa suits travellers who want the full island experience without any bustle… The resort fills Thilamaafushi, a natural island in Lhaviyani Atoll ringed by blue lagoons, and its 134 villas sit among tropical greenery with views out to the Indian Ocean. Guests praise the house reef, which one couple snorkelled every day, as well as the beaches, the food and staff described as thoughtful and kind. One guest summed up the mood as nothing too loud, yet everything fitting together. The criticisms are minor and practical. Seaplane departures can be scheduled very early in the morning, and buggies can be heard as they roll over the wooden walkways. One guest felt the fully inclusive plan only pays off if you drink alcohol, so it is worth weighing the board against your own habits. Couples, and anyone keen to snorkel from a calm island base, will settle in quickly here.
Why this position
Scores higher than #5 (9.7 to 9.5), on a smaller body of reviews (50 to 235).

Heritance Aarah
Northern Atolls, Maldives
All inclusiveHeritance Aarah suits travellers who want an all-inclusive stay where everything is taken care of… The resort lies in Raa Atoll, about 40 minutes from Malé by seaplane, and its Premium All Inclusive package covers five of its seven restaurants: Ranba, Ralu, Ginifathi, Ambula and the Pizza Shack. Two pools, a private beach area, a spa and a fitness centre complete the island. Guests speak above all about the staff, who come across as well trained, warm and attentive, and about the personal butler service, beautiful villas and consistently good food. One couple found the island just the right size. The criticisms are few and practical. The seaplane connection can leave you waiting in Malé for several hours, some guests felt the excursions were poor value, and not every restaurant is part of the package. First-time visitors to the Maldives and couples who want a polished, all-inclusive base will be very well looked after here.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #6 (58 to 50), at a slightly lower score (9.6 to 9.7).

Cora Cora Maldives
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Cora Cora Maldives suits travellers who want a stylish island resort that still feels small and uncrowded… It lies at Maamigili in Raa Atoll, with villas on the beach and over the water, five restaurants, a bar and a year-round outdoor pool. Guests repeatedly praise staff who are extremely friendly and attentive, an island that is always clean, and food and drink that match the setting, with the breakfast singled out. Those staying in the sunset water villas rave about the ocean view, while those in the beach villas have the sand right in front of them. Yoga, snorkelling, a wellness programme and well-reviewed excursions fill the days. The criticisms are minor. Some guests found the music too loud during lunch and dinner, a few had small TV or WiFi glitches that the team sorted out, and one would have liked the seafood barbecue more often. Couples and active travellers looking for a polished, relaxed island will feel well cared for here.
Why this position
Level with #7 on the guest score (9.6) and on the reviews behind it.

Noku Maldives, Vignette Collection by IHG
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Noku Maldives, Vignette Collection by IHG is a small island resort for guests who value privacy over bustle… Its 50 villas, split between the beach and the water, sit on Kuda Funafaru in Noonu Atoll, surrounded by white sand and crystal-blue water. Guests describe a huge, beautiful beach with a calm sea and often nobody else on it, and rooms that are large, relaxing and clean; a water villa with its own pool is called spacious and well furnished. The service draws the strongest praise, from the moment guests arrive, and the buffets are described as plentiful and varied. One guest extended the stay twice, and another wished they had stayed longer. The drawbacks are few. One guest found that food at the bars took a while at lunchtime, though the beach view made the wait easy. The island is a 45-minute seaplane flight from Malé, and once there, everything happens within the resort. For couples who want quiet and space, it is an easy fit.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #8 (77 to 53), at a slightly lower score (9.5 to 9.6).

Siyam World Maldives
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Siyam World Maldives is built for guests who want an island with room to roam… It spreads across 54 hectares of Dhigurah in Noonu Atoll, with 1.5 km of house reef, a white beach lined with palms and three pools. Guests describe the resort as beautiful and spacious, and the same points come up again and again: friendly, helpful staff, a long list of activities and so many restaurants and food options that the days never feel repetitive. The pools and facilities are called impeccable, and one guest who stayed in a water villa speaks warmly of the experience. The criticisms are minor. One guest found the lunch choices rather limited, and another felt the gym could do with an upgrade. Getting here also takes two steps, a domestic flight from Velana International Airport to Maafaru and then a 15-minute speedboat ride. For couples and friends who want variety without leaving the island, it is an easy choice.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #9 (611 to 77), at a slightly lower score (9.4 to 9.5).

Sun Siyam Iru Fushi with Free Transfer
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Adults onlyThe Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is a 52-acre resort in Noonu Atoll. With 221 spacious beach and overwater villas, the resort has an adults only infinity pool overlooking the Indian Ocean and a family pool in…
Why this position
The same guest score as #10 (9.4), on a smaller body of reviews (451 to 611).

Atmosphere Kanifushi
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Atmosphere Kanifushi is built for travellers who want an all-inclusive stay without compromising on quality… The resort lies in the sparsely populated Lhaviyani Atoll, and its villas line a long white beach and a turquoise lagoon, each with direct access to the sand, an open-air bathroom and its own garden with sun loungers. Guests are most enthusiastic about the food, praised in review after review, with one calling it exceptional in all the restaurants, and about staff who work tirelessly to look after them. Honeymooners speak warmly of the overwater villas, and guests describe the seaplane transfer from Malé as smooth. The drawbacks are small. One guest found the resort bicycles too small for anyone taller than 170 cm, and a guest who does not drink alcohol felt that side of the package meant little to them. Reaching the island also means a 35-minute seaplane ride. Couples, honeymooners and anyone who likes to dine somewhere different each night will settle in easily.
Why this position
Level with #11 on the guest score (9.4) and on the reviews behind it.

Niva Dhigali Maldives
Northern Atolls, Maldives
Niva Dhigali Maldives is a premium all-inclusive resort on its own island in Raa Atoll, ringed by a large house reef beyond the lagoon… Guests describe the island as stunning and the water as crystal clear, and they return again and again to the staff, who come across as kind, welcoming and always smiling; one guest says they felt like family. The resort is praised as exceptionally clean and well maintained, and the food gets credit for offering something different every day. The spa sits in a tropical garden with an outdoor plunge pool and day beds, and offers treatments rooted in local traditions. Criticism is scarce. One guest could not get a spa appointment straight away, so booking treatments early is wise. Getting here takes a 45-minute seaplane flight from Malé, and on a resort island everything happens within the resort. For couples who want an easy, well-run island stay, it is a natural fit.
Why this position
