OBLU SELECT Sangeli
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Spa & wellnessOBLU SELECT Sangeli is aimed at couples and honeymooners who want an all-inclusive island stay that runs smoothly from the moment they land… Guests describe the boat transfer of about 45 minutes as punctual and well organised, and once on the island they find stand-alone villas, beautiful beaches, rich marine life and sunsets worth stopping for. The staff are described as kind and accommodating, and there are enough activities, two pools and a spa to keep the days varied. Beach villas with a private pool and the honeymoon villas draw the most praise. The main reservations concern the food and the evenings. The buffet is of good quality but leans towards Indian and Asian dishes, so guests who prefer Western food may find the choice narrow, and some missed a bit more entertainment after dark. In the rainy season there are few covered areas to retreat to. For a relaxed, all-inclusive villa stay, though, guests leave very satisfied.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #3 (683 to 77), at a slightly lower score (9.4 to 9.5).

Huvafen Fushi Maldives

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa

Jumeirah Olhahali Island Maldives

VARU by Atmosphere
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
VARU by Atmosphere suits travellers who want a classic Maldives island holiday without having to think about the details… It sits in North Malé Atoll and runs on an all-inclusive basis, with white sandy beaches, clear water and snorkelling that guests rank among the highlights. Guests speak most warmly about the staff, who come across as friendly and attentive, and about the food, which they rate highly both at the buffet and in the restaurant. A pool, a spa, a fitness centre, a kids' club and evening entertainment keep the days full for couples and families alike. The criticisms are small and practical. Hot water in the villas can take its time, and the beach villas have only a foot fountain rather than an outdoor shower. As on any resort island, everything happens within the resort itself. Anyone who wants to stay put and enjoy the sea will find a clean, well-run base; travellers who like to explore beyond the hotel should look elsewhere.
Why this position
Guests rate it above #7 (9.3 to 9.3) and on more reviews (671 to 99).

Oaga Art Resort Maldives
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
RomanceOaga Art Resort Maldives suits couples who want a quiet, romantic island with the sea always in view… It sits in Maadhunifaru Lagoon in North Malé Atoll, about 45 minutes by boat from the airport according to guests, and offers water villas, beach villas, two pools and a spa with a sauna and steam room. Guests speak warmly of the staff, who come across as polite and caring, and of a resort that is clean and very well kept. Four restaurants cover Chinese, Indian, Italian and Japanese cooking, and those on the all-inclusive board consider it good value. The drawbacks are modest. Meals are served buffet-style, and some guests would like more variety over a longer stay. A family in a water villa found the extra bed too uncomfortable to sleep in, and the resort shop is expensive. For couples who want calm, caring service and those lagoon views, these are small points; families should plan their rooms with care.
Why this position
The same guest score as #8 (9.3), on a smaller body of reviews (266 to 671).

The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
ViewsThe Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands in Male City offers a private beach area and beachfront access. Guests enjoy sea views, a sun terrace, and a lush garden…
Why this position
Scores higher than #9 (9.7 to 9.3), on a smaller body of reviews (33 to 266).

Cocomo Maldives
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Cocomo Maldives is a beachfront property on Himmafushi in North Malé Atoll, built around a private beach area and a year-round outdoor pool… Guests speak most warmly about the staff, who are described as welcoming and quick to help, and about how clean and fresh everything feels. The beach has plenty of loungers and shade, the restaurant's menu is wide-ranging, and families feel at home, helped by family rooms with balconies and a team that goes out of its way for special occasions. The trade-offs are modest but worth knowing. The entry into the sea has some rocks, so swimming shoes are a good idea. Rooms face the garden or the city rather than the sea, and with one restaurant every meal is taken in the same place. Couples and families looking for friendly service and a relaxed stay by the beach will find it here; travellers after sea-view rooms and a choice of dining venues may prefer a larger resort.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #10 (129 to 33), at a slightly lower score (9.3 to 9.7).

Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa suits travellers who want peace and privacy above all… The island sits in North Malé Atoll, ringed by a reef that guests praise for snorkelling, and its infinity pool, spa and private beach set an unhurried tone. Guests repeatedly describe the staff as warm and attentive, and the resort as very private, never crowded even when full. Rooms come with sea views and a balcony, and the bathtub at the back of the bathroom is a detail guests single out. A sunset cruise with dolphins features among the memories guests take home. The kitchen is where opinions split. Some found the food fresh and well made, while others felt the restaurants and the buffet fell short of the rest of the resort and wanted more variety. There are also isolated reports of a clumsy check-in. For couples who care most about quiet, service and the sea, those gaps are easy to live with; food lovers may want to weigh them more heavily.
Why this position
Level with #11 on the guest score (9.3) and on the reviews behind it.

Meeru Maldives Resort Island
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Meeru Maldives Resort Island has Meerufenfushi in North Malé Atoll to itself, which gives it a private beach area, pools on the sand and room for very different kinds of stay… Guests speak most warmly about the staff, who make arrivals feel genuinely welcoming, and about the beaches and the views. Couples tend to favour the ocean villas, with nature right outside, or the beach pool villas, which feel very private, while families have family rooms, a playground and babysitting to call on. The drawbacks are practical. The internet can be slow, some guests missed firmer pillows, and the boat transfer is a separate cost that guests advise planning for from the start. Couples who want a villa by the water and families who want space and activities on one island will find plenty here; travellers who depend on fast internet or want every cost bundled in should weigh those points first.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #12 (971 to 113), at a slightly lower score (9.2 to 9.3).

Patina Maldives, Fari Islands
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Patina Maldives, Fari Islands in North Male Atoll offers a private beach area and beachfront access. Guests enjoy stunning sea views and direct beachfront access…
Why this position
Scores higher than #13 (9.3 to 9.2), on a smaller body of reviews (44 to 971).

Centara Mirage Lagoon Maldives
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Peace and quietCentara Mirage Lagoon Maldives sits on Nakachchafushi in North Malé Atoll, a speedboat ride of about 30 minutes away, and it is built with families in mind… Guests with children praise the pool and splash pad, the bunk beds in some rooms and the family and interconnecting rooms, while just about everyone mentions how friendly and attentive the staff are. The rooms feel new, clean and spacious, all with sea views, and the food, from the breakfast buffet with its live station to the international menu at lunch and dinner, gets warm reviews. The weaker points are minor. Loungers by the pool are often reserved, the children's menu is limited, and some guests found the food expensive. Families looking for a well-run island with plenty for children, and couples who do not mind a strong family atmosphere, will feel at home here; travellers seeking a hushed, adult-focused hideaway may prefer somewhere else.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #14 (84 to 44), at a slightly lower score (9.1 to 9.3).

Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa, Maldives
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa, Maldives sits on Hembadhu in North Malé Atoll, and much of its appeal lies in the water around it… Guests describe pristine water, soft sand and a house reef they rate highly for snorkelling, and the resort has its own dive centre. Rooms have sea-view balconies, there are water villas, and a spa, a steam room, yoga classes and a year-round pool fill the days. The staff and the food are what guests mention most, and some come back for repeat stays. The setting comes with a few practical points. One guest put the journey from the capital at about 45 minutes, so arrival takes a little longer than at resorts nearer the airport. A returning guest felt that parts of the resort are a little tired and due for renovation, and one found communication before arrival confusing. Couples and snorkellers who want a quiet island with attentive service will find a lot to like here.
Why this position
Rests on more guest reviews than #15 (198 to 84), at a slightly lower score (8.9 to 9.1).

Coco Bodu Hithi
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Coco Bodu Hithi is a private island in North Malé Atoll, a 35-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport, with 100 villas set either over the lagoon or along the beach… The water is the main event: guests describe a reef right by the overwater villas where they snorkelled with turtles, and mention sharks and colourful fish. Six restaurants, two pools, a spa, a fitness centre and plenty of activities mean there is a lot to do without leaving the island. Guests speak warmly about the staff, the personal concierge service and the breakfast. The main trade-off is the cost once you are there. Several guests found the extras expensive, from menu prices with considerable taxes added to the festive gala. One guest noticed construction work nearby, and another found the room lighting on the dim side. Couples and snorkellers who want a calm island with a reef on the doorstep will be well looked after here.
Why this position
Level with #16 on the guest score (8.9) and on the reviews behind it.

Villa Nautica Paradise Island Resort
North Malé Atoll, Maldives
Villa Nautica Paradise Island Resort is built for an easy Maldives stay… The island of Lankanfinolhu is just a 20-minute speedboat ride from Malé, so the journey ends quickly, and guests describe the arrival as smooth from airport to room. Villas and bungalows each have a private terrace facing the ocean, and four restaurants, a bar, a spa and a pool keep everything on the island. Guests speak most warmly about the kind, attentive staff, the beaches and snorkelling, and the free basketball, table tennis and gym. Even in the rainy off-season, guests found the island peaceful. The trade-offs are practical rather than serious. The Wi-Fi can slow down at times, the speedboat transfer is compulsory and costs extra, and guests who tried both rate the Lagoon restaurant for the Water Villas above the main restaurant. Couples and honeymooners who want a relaxed island base close to the airport will feel at home here; anyone who needs a reliable connection for work should plan around it.
Why this position
The largest body of guest feedback on this page: 2,753 reviews, averaging 9.0. Guests rate it above #17 (9.0 to 8.9) and on more reviews (2,753 to 209).
