Mula Hotel
Istanbul, Turkey
Best overallMula Hotel is built around its location… It stands in Sultanahmet, within walking distance of the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, so the main sights of old Istanbul are reachable on foot. Guests return again and again to the same points: friendly and efficient staff, a breakfast they rate very highly and a rooftop terrace whose view and gardens leave an impression. Rooms are described as clean, modern and comfortable, and they are soundproofed. The trade-offs concern facilities rather than service. There is a hammam and a fitness centre but no pool, and dining in the hotel comes down to one restaurant. One family also found the family room expensive with a single bathroom, so interconnecting rooms are worth asking about. Sightseers and couples who plan to spend their days in the old city will find a well-run, central base; travellers who want resort-style facilities are better served elsewhere.

Bentley Hotel Old City-Special Class
Istanbul, Turkey
DesignBentley Hotel Old City-Special Class is a city hotel built for sightseeing… It sits in the Old City (Fatih), and guests repeatedly describe the location as perfect for exploring the old town on foot. The staff are the other constant in reviews: friendly, kind and quick to help, with the service at reception praised by day and at night. Rooms are called clean, modern and nicely designed, and breakfast gets warm words too. After a day of sightseeing, the hotel has its own spa and wellness centre to return to, with a sauna, a hammam and an open-air bath on the terrace. The limits are clear from the facilities list. There is no swimming pool, the rooms face the city rather than the water, and dining on site means one restaurant, a bar and a coffee shop. Travellers who want a well-placed base with a spa will feel at home; those after a pool or Bosphorus views should look elsewhere.
Why this position
Guests on Booking rate it above #4 (9.4 to 9.3), but it has no Google rating yet, which the ranking weighs equally; #4 has 4.8.

Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center
Istanbul, Turkey
Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center is a polished city hotel in Bomonti, in Şişli, a 10-minute walk from Osmanbey metro station and one stop from Taksim Square… Guests are consistent about what works: attentive and professional staff, especially at reception, a breakfast they rate highly, and a spa, lounge and pool to come back to. Rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated, and their views reach across the European side towards the Asian side. The trade-offs come from its role and its location. With meeting rooms, a business centre and a conference centre, it caters to business travel as much as to holidays, so it has the setting of a conference hotel rather than an intimate one. It is also inland and away from the Old City, so Sultanahmet means the metro or a taxi. Business travellers and couples after comfort and a spa will be well looked after; first-time sightseers may prefer to stay closer to the historic sights.

CVK Park Bosphorus Hotel Istanbul
Istanbul, Turkey
CVK Park Bosphorus Hotel Istanbul is a city hotel built around two things: its address and its spa… It sits 150 metres from Taksim Square, and the Safira Spa & Fitness Centre, at 8,500 m², gives you a sauna, a Turkish bath, a steam room, massages and an indoor pool to return to after a day out. Guests praise the location, the cleanliness, the modern rooms and apartments, and the friendly, professional reception. The compromises are modest but worth knowing. Breakfast divides opinion, with one guest calling it ordinary for the hotel's level, and a residence apartment facing the street can let in some noise. Beyond the spa there is little in the way of resort-style entertainment. For travellers who want a central base with a serious spa, it is an easy choice; anyone after a sprawling leisure resort should look elsewhere.

Fairmont Quasar Istanbul Hotel
Istanbul, Turkey
Fairmont Quasar Istanbul Hotel is a modern, polished stay in Mecidiyeköy, Şişli, where rooms look out over the city skyline or the Bosphorus… Guests keep coming back to the service, describing the staff as kind and hospitable, and to rooms that are spotless, beautifully decorated and fitted with very comfortable beds. Dinner at the hotel restaurant also wins praise, and the Fairmont Spa adds a gym, an indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool. The trade-off is the location. The hotel lies some distance from the main attractions, including the old-town sights, and with heavy traffic nearby guests found taxis slow or hard to get. Breakfast and the spa draw occasional criticism, and one guest found the indoor pool cold. If you want a comfortable, well-run base and don't mind travelling to the sights, it fits well; if walking to the Old City matters, stay closer to it.

How we ranked these hotels
19 hotels looked at for this destination: 19 ranked above, 0 more we recommend.
The Google and Booking ratings for these hotels are based on a combined 114,848 reviews reported by the sources. This is not the number of review texts Tripplo has analysed.
How guest ratings, hotel class and facts inform our selections.
Read our methodologyWhere to stay in Istanbul?
Areas drawn from our hotels' addresses and updated as the selection changes.
Beşiktaş and the Bosphorus
Best for Waterfront and luxury retreatsStretching along the European banks of the Bosphorus, this prestigious area features grand Ottoman-era palaces, upscale dining, and scenic strait views. It offers a resort-like atmosphere slightly removed from the dense, historic city centre.
Beyoğlu and Şişli
Best for Shopping and lively cultureThis dynamic commercial and cultural hub contains contemporary art galleries, historic passages, and the high-end fashion boutiques of Nişantaşı. The area is highly connected by public transport and features a lively nightlife scene.
Sultanahmet
Best for First-time sightseeingLocated in the Old City, Sultanahmet places visitors within walking distance of major landmarks including the Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The historic neighbourhood is rich in heritage but tends to be very quiet after dark.
Areas to consider
Traffic congestion along the coastal Bosphorus roads and central thoroughfares is notoriously heavy, so visitors relying solely on taxis rather than the ferry or metro network should expect significant travel delays during peak hours.

Every hotel counts once, at its own typical price, so hotels we happened to check more often don't carry more weight. Prices are the lowest rate available for the whole stay, worked out per night in euros.

How we chose these hotels
At our latest review (August 2026) the properties listed above were measured against the same standard: sustained guest scores on both Booking.com and Google (weighted by how many reviews sit behind them), five-star class or an equivalent premium level, a first-rate location, and facilities that set the hotel apart.
As a guideline we look for around 8.5 or higher on Booking.com, but no single number decides on its own. When the sources disagree, the broader evidence wins. Guest scores on this page update continuously, and the selection is re-reviewed at regular intervals. The full standard is described in how we choose hotels.
